The best idea any gay man has had since Leonardo da Vinci invented the hairdryer:
iTrick is a contact management system aimed at gay men (or probably anyone whose sexual appetite exceeds their memory capacity). It enables you to record information about online hookups (like what you did and whether it was any good) and share it with other users. At last the enormous potential of the digital revolution has been harnessed. You can even produce useful reports such as top ten cocksuckers, percentage of safe/unsafe sex and chronological listing of your sex life.
Full kudos to software devloper Nicholas Strecker who has zeroed in on the homo zeitgeist with pinpoint accuracy.
Gotta run now – I’ve got a lot of data to back-capture
I feel a lot better now. Both physically (I’ve been struggling a bit) and mentally (after getting to see a bit of Newcastle first hand). We went up to the new home town on Friday/Saturday to have a look around and see some potential places to live.
Driving up the freeway I experienced frequent waves of nausea, mostly due to having had a bit of a stomach wog for most of the last week, but also, I daresay, a touch of nerves and at least a degree of separation anxiety. I’ve not actually spent much time in this city we are about to call home, so this was my first opportunity to see the place with the question “could I live here?” in the back of my mind.
I liked what I saw. Newcastle is pretty laid-back by Sydney’s frenetic standards (the same frenetic standards we’re seeking to escape) but there’s an unmistakable charm and a definite energy about the place. The beaches are gorgeous (although most of them are off-limits to dogs, which is a bitch) and there seemed to be plenty of good cafes and restaurants, bookshops, parks and other areas to explore in due course. The people are decidedly friendly, if a little straightlaced.
We saw a few houses, some of which were hilariously bad, run-down, unliveable hovels, and a couple which we liked, including one especially nice place that we’ve applied for.
The dogs seemed to immediately take to Newcastle (or was that Tigger, Belinda and Bec’s staffy pup?) They certainly liked their excursion to (dog-friendly) Horseshoe Beach. Judging by the representation on the beach, Labradors are a popular breed in Newcastle.
Brent starts working up there on Monday which means I’ll only get to see him a couple of nights a week for the next few weeks; it’s a bit of a tough distance to commute on a daily basis so he’ll stay up there most weeknights. I’m not looking forward to that but it’s necessary. We are moving forward.
